| COURSES RECOMMENDED FOR EXAMINERS
DETECTION, RECOVERY & EXAMINATION OF FOOTWEAR IMPRESSION EVIDENCE
This is a 5-day course for forensic footwear examiners who examine footwear evidence and testify to their findings. It reviews, from the examiner's perspective, the recovery methods of photography, casting and lifting, and covers numerous other topic areas, including chemical enhancement of impressions, manufacturing methods of footwear as they relate to the examination, the evaluation of class and identifying characteristics, the examination process, footwear sizing issues, making known exemplars, etc. Each student independently works approximately 35-40 exercises, including approximately 20 separate comparative examinations.
EXAMINATION OF TIRE AND TIRE TRACK EVIDENCE
This is a 5-day course for forensic tire examiners. It covers all aspects of both tire tread and tire track evidence, including basic information regarding tires, tire molds, and tire manufacturing, tire retreading, dual tired vehicles, special crime scene recovery considerations, methods of taking known exemplars of tires, the comparison process, evaluation of class and identifying characteristics, report writing, and numerous comparison exercises.

COURSES RECOMMENDED FOR CRIME SCENE PERSONNEL AND INVESTIGATORS
Recovery of Footwear and Tire Impression Evidence:This 3-day course is designed for crime scene technicians, criminal investigators, ERT members and others who need to improve their understanding of and learn the recovery techniques for footwear and tire impression evidence. The course provides extensive information and hands-on experience to assist the attendees in understanding why footwear and tire impression evidence is important, how to recover it, what this information can do to assist the investigation, and the type of examination results that can be expected. Included are demonstrations and hands-on instruction of how to document, photograph and cast impressions, the use of several methods of lifting impressions including electrostatic methods, and the latest methods and formulations for chemically enhancing impressions at both the crime scene and in the laboratory. Numerous other related topics are also covered, including shoe sizing, blunt force pattern injuries on bodies made by footwear, footwear and tire databases, tire track measurements and barefoot impressions. Case histories will be used to demonstrate the application of the topics covered in class. In addition, some brief examination exercises will be provided to solidify certain aspects of crime scene recovery and the types of results that can be attained in footwear and tire impression examinations.
